I just came across a site for Bed and Breakfasts in Paris. This site is the official site sponsored by the Paris mairie. The listed B&B's are supposed to fulfill certain standards in sanitation, offer a breakfast, and be welcoming.

I have a friend that just stayed at Le Quartier Hotel near the metro Republique. The prices are very reasonable. The hotel is clean and modern, and they also have 2 other hotels nearby to offer. In Le Quartier Hotel all rooms offer wi-fi service and also there is a fitness room and sauna. Not bad!

I have been meaning to try the ice bar at the Kube Hotel in Paris just to get a flash of freezing cold during the warm summer months to come. One of the good things about Paris is that the evenings are also very warm and this makes for several happy people out and about even when its dark.

One of the cheapest Paris hotels in terms of location, quality and price is the Hotel Jeanne D'arc. This hotel is in a charming 17th century building off the pedestrian square called Marché Sainte Catherine.
