Paris Plage is here until August 20th. The theme this year is Tahiti and the Seine is transformed into a beach, with sand, lounge chairs, concerts, cafes, and fun. It can often be crowded but early morning non crowded hours and evening concerts are worth checking out.

Canicule
The Canicule has arrived early this summer. Most Parisians claim that we had Winter and then went straight to Summer. In Paris there is very little air conditioning. Therefore there are several precautions to take such as wearing sunscreen, hats, and drinking water. There is even a Canicule Info Service number and brochures on how to handle the heat.

Le Quartier Hotel
I have a friend that just stayed at Le Quartier Hotel near the metro Republique. The prices are very reasonable. The hotel is clean and modern, and they also have 2 other hotels nearby to offer. In Le Quartier Hotel all rooms offer wi-fi service and also there is a fitness room and sauna. Not bad!

Park Villette offers free outdoor movies at nightfall until August 13th. Every Tuesday through Sunday evening at the Prairie du Triangle, there are some amazing films all with the theme of beasts and man. Next Wednesday for example, there is the film Matador by Pedro Almodovar. The Park Villette also hosts the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, the Cité de la musique and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.

Ice Bar at the Kube Hotel in Paris
I have been meaning to try the ice bar at the Kube Hotel in Paris just to get a flash of freezing cold during the warm summer months to come. One of the good things about Paris is that the evenings are also very warm and this makes for several happy people out and about even when its dark.

Pere Lachaise
Beautiful day to take a stroll in the Pere Lachaise cemetary. Entry is free and there are so many well known artists and interesting people inside. Their website is pretty interesting. Also here is a link to the practical information and hours of the cemetery.
